Pungent choice of word

“The more Qassam fire intensifies, and the rockets reach a longer range, they [the Palestinians] will bring upon themselves a bigger holocaust because we will use all our might to defend ourselves.”

Then again, there could be a mistranslation issue.

Blog Warriordom: a modern tragedy

Craig in comments linked to an excellent cartoon depicting the personal tragedy that is modern Blog Warriordom.

As it happens, I found in my inbox today an animated depiction of a full-blown, catastrophic case of this potentially fatal condition. Due to it’s graphic nature, it’s presented here ‘below the fold’ to protect the sensibilities of the squeamish. (If it’s not visible and you’re game, please click ‘read more’...)

Thought regretted

I’d almost overlooked this, but it’s such a fine example of how the Muftim’s Tim Blair’s followers can be such a credit to him.

Blair regular Mentalfloss, commenting on a well-known leftist, um, academic, demonstrates the blairbots’ general level of commitment to healthy debate:

It makes me fear for what I might do if I were actually to hear the words this, this plasmodial myxomycophyta whilst in the same room.

Guess I’m lucky I left my 9mm Baretta in the US when I moved here. It jammed every fifth shot, but that’s about the number of Faculty Heads in a given department...

Oh, how very delightful! — in the immediate aftermath of yet another campus shooting spree in Mr Floss’s native US.

Perhaps in recognition of this, less than a half-hour later this character had second or maybe third thoughts:

The last paragraph was in very poor taste and I regret posting it, much less thinking it.

Oh, how very enlightened! We all have regrets, and one can only guess Mr Floss in his earlier comment was shooting from the hip... um... shooting first and asking questions later... er...

But it’s okay, peer-group pressure can be very powerful, and one may well understand the impulse to sound off in a manner to which one’s cohorts expect of one.
